Not only an expert and caring surgeon, but a person with whom you don't feel 'stupid' when sharing worries and concerns. Her advice and reaction to these worries gives you huge reassurance and you feel she, and nurse Claire, have 'got your back'. Thank you! As a private patient you expect great care (and obviously get it in this case) but a friend sees Ms B-T through the NHS and shares the same thoughts.

Fantastic experience of breast cancer surgery, follow up and subsequent reconstruction. Very caring approach and real focus on after care. In partnership with BC nurse Claire at Spire a formidable team!

Very clear explanations of treatments and options, and a lot of empathy. Very good listening skills. Engaged with my 'minor' concerns, such as treatments interfering with holidays, and made constructive suggestions. The outcome was very good, too!

Profile

Miss Rachel Bright-Thomas was appointed as a Consultant Breast Surgeon at Worcestershire Royal Hospital in 2006 and has been both MDT and clinical lead for breast services over the last 14 years.

Rachel was awarded the NHS hero award in 2013 and had a Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust Patient’s choice nomination in 2015.

Rachel is a keen educator. She is now the training programme director for general surgery in the South of the West Midlands and sits on the Education and Training commitee of the national Association of Breast Surgeons.

In her private practice, Rachel runs an all female team of specialists. Her private clinic offers patients rapid and flexible access to treatment in a purpose built facility, with appointments available within a couple of days as opposed to the typical NHS 2 week waiting time for breast symptoms. She is used to dealing with all benign and malignant breast problems and offers the full range of breast surgical options.
